Dr. Kathleen Mullins is originally from north Mississippi but grew up near Pensacola, FL. She obtained both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Mississippi State University. Dr. Mullins then completed a small animal rotating internship at Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada. After her internship, she returned to Mississippi State for completion of a small animal surgical residency and masters degree. In 2010, after completing her residency, she began work at a private referral hospital in north Alabama where she worked for more than 4 years. She became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2013.
Dr. Mullins and her husband moved to his Louisiana hometown in 2014 to assume care of the family farm. They have 2 rescue dogs (Stella Blue and Beatrice Marie) and 2 cats (Cupcake and Grimm). Stella even has her own special surgical story!
Dr. Mullins founded Acadiana Veterinary Surgery in December 2014 based on the need for pet owners to have the opportunity to locally access a board-certified small animal veterinary surgeon.
